DreamWorks Pictures is already getting to work on a sequel to the Shawn Levy-directed drama “Real Steel” with Hugh Jackman reports Deadline.
John Gatins, who penned the script for the first film which Disney will release on October 7th, has been hired to start work on the second installment. It’s unusual to see such a move occur so early considering the film is still very much in post-production.
Set in the near future when boxers have been replaced by human-controlled two-ton robots, Jackman portrays a former boxer-turned-manager who reunites with his estranged son to take his fighter to the championships.
DreamWorks has reportedly scored strong positive response to both internal screenings of the film, and a CinemaCon presentation of footage in Las Vegas the other week.
