“The Reader” associate producer Simon de Normier has picked up the rights to a trilogy of crime novels from “Reader” author Bernhard Schlink says The Hollywood Reporter.
“Self’s Punishment,” “Self’s Murder” and “Self’s Deception” follow the noir-ish adventures of Gerhard Self, a private detective working in postwar Germany.
As he investigates crimes, he finds himself unearthing dark secrets of his, and his country’s past.
De Normier plans to produce the three films back-to-back, releasing it as a ‘theatrical three-part miniseries with one title’, through his company SenfKorn Film.
Production on the first film kicks off late 2009 or early 2010. No talent is yet attached.
