Ray Winstone (“The Departed,” “Sexy Beast”) has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” which is currently filming in the UK.
The film is expected to serve as a semi-prequel, switching between Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff in the days before she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. when she was a KGB-trained spy and assassin, and scenes set in the year gap between ‘Civil War’ and ‘Infinity War’.
Winstone joins a cast that includes David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, O. T. Fagbenle and Florence Pugh, but specifics of his role are unknown. Cate Shortland is helming from a script by Jac Schaeffer while Kevin Feige is producing.
Winstone can be seen next as Growltiger in the “Cats” film adaptation at Christmas. The “Black Widow” film has yet to set a release date, though a May 2020 bow is likely.
