Rashomon Remake In The Works

Harbor Light Entertainment and Lotus are planning an English-language remake of helmer Akira Kurosawa’s 1950 classic “Rashomon” says Variety.

Shifting the setting from ancient Japan to contemporary America, the setting of “Rashomon 2010” becomes a American court who must decide the facts about the rape of a woman and the murder of her husband.

The original masterpiece film pioneered several techniques from using mirrors to reflect sunlight onto the actor’s faces, to the camera itself becoming an active and important role in the story.

Most notably however it remains the first and most famous cinematic example of a story exploring the same event from the various character’s different points of view and how truth can be subjective.
