Rami Malek Was Up For Next Bond Villain?

Rami Malek Was Up For Next Bond Villain

Following on from the reports of the return of Lea Seydoux and three other Bond franchise regulars for the next 007 feature, another name has been revealed as a ‘might have been’ possibility.

Variety reports that “Bohemian Rhapsody” star Rami Malek was originally sought to play the villain in the new film, but with the project now pushed to shoot early next year, Malek’s commitments the final season of “Mr. Robot” have prevented him from taking the gig.

The film’s previous helmer Danny Boyle fell off the project in part due to the villain casting with that filmmaker wanting Claes Bang to play the villain while both the studio and star Daniel Craig disagreed. Back in June, the British trades reported the interesting potential casting of Helena Bonham Carter as the film’s villain.

Cary Fukunaga is helming this 25th Bond installment which is Craig’s fifth and likely final outing. It is slated for release February 2020.
