Ralph Fiennes is hoping to direct “The Invisible Woman”, a film about a love affair of author Charles Dickens reports The Daily Mail.
The story will deal with 18-year-old Ellen “Nelly” Ternan who began an affair with the then 45-year-old and married Dickens. A year later Dickens’ wife Catherine found out about the affair and the marriage came to an end but the affair was never made public for fear of scrutiny.
Abi Morgan penned the screenplay based on Claire Tomalin’s best-selling biography. Fiennes is currently meeting with various young actresses like Imogen Poots, Felicity Jones and Abbie Cornish for the role of Nelly.
Shooting would kick off spring or early summer 2012. Before that Fiennes will play Dickens anti-hero Magwitch in Mike Newell’s upcoming adaptation of “Great Expectations”.
