Raimi Remakes “Anguish,” “Room 205”

Having pilfered the Japanese supernatural genre, Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures plans to remake two European horror films reports Variety.

First is Bigas Luna’s 1987 Spanish feature “Anguish”. That film follows two girls who, while watching a scary movie, find themselves in a horror film of their own when their life starts to mirror the pic’s plot.

The other is Danish movie “Room 205”. To be renamed “The Dorm”, original helmer Martin Barnewitz will return to direct the English-language remake about a college freshman who moves into a dorm only to find that her room is haunted by sinister forces.

Jake Wade Wall, who penned the remakes of “When a Stranger Calls” and “The Hitcher”, is doing the screenplay for the “Anguish” remake. Raimi, Rob Tapert, Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing.

Stephen Susco (“The Grudge,” “The Grudge 2”) is adapting “Room 205” while Raimi and Tapert will produce.
