Sam Raimi and Sony Pictures are teaming for a currently untitled horror film which hails from “Friday the 13th” 2009 reboot writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon.
The project is dubbed a blend of Stephen King’s “Misery” meets the Zemeckis/Hanks 2000 survivalist drama “Cast Away,” but plot specifics are under wraps.
Raimi will direct and produce with Zainab Azizi also producing. The project would mark Raimi’s first horror feature in a decade – his last one being 2009’s “Drag Me to Hell”. His last directed film was 2013’s “Oz the Great and Powerful”.
Raimi previously worked with Shannon and Swift on a long-in-development Bermuda Triangle project which is currently at Skydance. Raimi recently produced Alexandre Aja’s very well received “Crawl” which hit home video this week.
