Rachel Weisz, Ashraf Barhom (“Paradise Now,” “The Kingdom”) and Oscar Isaac (“The Nativity Story”) will star in Alejandro Amenabar’s $73 million untitled English-language movie reports Reuters.
At times entitled “Mists of Time”, the historical drama is set in early Egypt and concerns a slave who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master, a female philosophy professor and atheist.
Weisz will play Hypatia, the Alexandrian professor. Barhom is playing a zealous Christian monk named Ammonius. Isaac is set as Orestes, who has an unrequited love for Hypatia.
Amenabar wrote and is directing the project which remains top secret and is currently prepping for a major shoot in Malta starting next month, despite some problems including a film crew strike.
