Wonder Woman 1984
New photos from the set of Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 1984” have gone online, the shots showing Kristen Wiig’s Barbara Minerva fending off an attacker. It’s thought this scene, shot in London’s Hyde Park, will play a role in her transformation into Cheetah. No image has been released so far of Wiig in her full Cheetah look. [Source: Twitter]
We, the Drowned
Director and cinematographer Mikael Salomon (“Band of Brothers”) is slated to direct the seafaring epic TV series “We, the Drowned” based on Carsten Jensen’s bestselling 2006 historical novel and produced by Marlowfilm Productions.
The English language multi-generational story centers on the people of the Danish seaport of Marstal. Starting in the mid-19th century, it follows those who set to sea and those they left behind across an eight-episode run. [Source: Variety]
AJ and the Queen
“Highwaymen” actress Izzy G (aka Izzy Gaspersz) is set to star opposite RuPaul Charles in the comedy series “AJ and the Queen” for Netflix and former “Sex and the City” showrunner Michael Patrick King. Josh Segarra, Michael-Leon Wooley, Katerina Tannenbaum and Tia Carrere co-star.
RuPaul stars as Ruby Red, a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen who travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990s RV with her unlikely sidekick – a tough-talking 9-year-old orphaned runaway named AJ (Izzy G). Carmen Ejogo (“True Detective,” “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald”) has signed on to star in Netflix’s psychological thriller feature “Rattlesnake” from writer-director Zak Hilditch (“1922”). Theo Rossi and Emma Greenwell co-star.
Ejogo plays a single mother who accepts the help of a mysterious woman after her daughter is bitten by a rattlesnake. She soon finds herself forced to pay back her ‘debt’ by taking the life of a total stranger in the rural town of Tulia, Texas. [Source: Collider]
Playing with Fire
John Cena is reportedly in final negotiations to star in the family comedy film “Playing With Fire” for Paramount Players. Todd Garner and Sean Robins are on board to produce.
The story revolves around a group of rugged wildfire fighters who meet their match when they rescue a trio of rambunctious children. Dan Ewen penned the spec script with Matt Lieberman performing a re-write. [Source: Variety]
