Fox Searchlight has released the first photos from “Wendy,” the new film from director Benh Zeitlin and his first since his breakout 2012 effort “Beasts of the Southern Wild”. The story is dubbed a wild reimagining of the classic Peter Pan tale.
Lost on a mysterious island where ageing and time have come unglued, Wendy must fight to save her family, her freedom, and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up. Jeremy Rush (“Wheelman”) is in negotiations to direct the Universal Pictures action feature “Versus” with Kelly McCormick and David Leitch producing. “Three Musketeers” scribe Alex Litvak and “American Assassin” writer Mike Finch pen the film but plot specifics are under wraps. [Source: Variety]

Holland Roden (“Teen Wolf”), Indya Moore (“Pose”), Thomas Cocquerel (“The 100”), Carlito Olivero (“Step Up: High Water”) will join Isabelle Fuhrman and returnees Taylor Russell and Logan Miller in the upcoming “Escape Room” sequel for Sony Pictures.
Adam Robitel is on board to direct the psychological thriller followup, which was penned by Bragi F. Schut. The sequel’s plot is under wraps and the film is slated to open August 2020. [Source: Deadline]
Neve Campbell will play Laura Sobiech in the drama “Clouds” from Warner Bros. Pictures. Based on Sobiech’s memoir “Fly a Little Higher,” the Justin Baldoni-directed film follows 17-year-old Zach (Fin Argus), Laura’s son, whose diagnosed a second time with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of pediatric bone cancer, but this time it’s terminal.
In the months leading up to his death, he finds the courage to date and fall in love with his dream girl, Amy (Madison Iseman) and despite waves of sorrow and guilt knowing he’s leaving his loved ones behind and in pain, he writes a song saying goodbye and to thank all the people who stood by him. Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor Edgar Ramirez (“Carlos,” “Point Break”) will play husband to Jennifer Garner’s character in the Netflix movie “Yes Day”. Jenna Ortega also stars while Miguel Arteta directs.
Adapted by Justin Malen from the children’s book by Tom Lichtenheld and Amy Krouse Rosenthal, the story revolves around parents attempting to make it through an entire day by only saying ‘yes’ to their children’s requests, a tradition Garner practices with her own children. [Source: Broadway World]
