Universal Pictures will open Jordan Peele’s horror film “Us” is being delayed a week and will now open March 22nd. The announcement comes in the wake of the film scoring its world Premiere at SXSW in the opening night slot of March 8th.
Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Lupita Nyong’o plays a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her family for an idyllic summer getaway. Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, her paranoia elevates to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. Luke Wilson has been cast as mechanic-turned-superhero Pat Dugan, who pilots the 15-foot robot Stripe, in the DC Universe series “Stargirl”. Brec Bassinger stars as a high school student who inherits the cosmic device of a long-gone superhero.
Showrunner Geoff Johns, who created Stargirl while writing for DC Comics in the late 1990s, described the casting coup in terms that made it sound as if it was written in the stars. [Source: TV Line]
James Badge Dale has scored the male lead opposite Monica Raymund in Starz’s crime drama series “Hightown”. Dale will play Detective Ray Abruzzo, a Massachusetts State Trooper in the series which Rebecca Cutter, Gary Lennon and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce.
The story is set amid the drug trade on Cape Cod, touched off when a body washes ashore and os discovered by an irreverent National Marine Fisheries Service officer. Raymund is determined to help solve the murder even if the state cops want her nowhere near the case. [Source: Deadline]
