Star Trek: Discovery
All four of the “Star Trek: Short Treks” shorts films, which were previously only available to U.S. users on CBS All Access, have now been added to the ‘Trailers and More’ section of Netflix’s “Star Trek: Discovery” page around the rest of the world. Dragon Ball Super: Broly
The English-language version of Funimation Films’ Japanese anime feature “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” screened at 180 IMAX and Cinemark XD premium large-format screens on Wednesday, generating a highly impressive $7 million in its first day. Raised by Wolves
Amanda Collin, Abubakar Salim, Winta McGrath, Travis Fimmel, Niamh Algar, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Jordan Loughran, Aasiya Shah and Ivy Wong are all set to star in the straight-to-series ordered “Raised by Wolves” which has Ridley Scott set to make his television directorial debut.
The series centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task. Playing With Fire
Judy Greer is set to star opposite John Cena in Andy Fickman’s “Playing With Fire” at Paramount Players and Broken Road. The “Halloween,” “Ant-Man” and “Archer” star will play Dr. Amy Hicks in the film, the character is a love interest to Cena’s John Carson.
Matt Lieberman penned the film which is set at a depot in the remote Eastern Sierras which becomes an unlikely safe haven for a trio of orphaned kids determined to stay together after learning of Social Services’ plan to send them to separate foster homes. [Source: Deadline]
The Glorias: A Life on the Road
Timothy Hutton has joined Julie Taymor’s upcoming Gloria Steinem feature “The Glorias: A Life on the Road”. Hutton will play the role of Leo Steinem, Gloria’s father. Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore will play the feminist icon at different ages in the film which follows her journey to becoming a crusader for equal rights and her groundbreaking work as a journalist and campaigner. A new trailer is out for the Austin-based Rooster Teeth anime series “gen:LOCK” which boasts the voices of Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning, David Tennant, Maisie Williams and Asia Kate Dillon. Set fifty years in the future, an oppressive authoritarian force threatens to conquer the world. A daring team is recruited to pilot a new form of weaponized neuroscience that powers devastating mecha, but they must be willing to sacrifice everything to save the world. The show premieres on January 26th.
