Cobie Smulders (*The Avengers”) has scored the lead role in ABC’s drama pilot “Stumptown” based on the Oni Press comic. Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”), Jason Richman, Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth and Justin Greenwood will executive produce.

Smulders plays Dex Parios, a strong, assertive, and unapologetically sharp-witted Army veteran and ex-Military Intelligence officer working as a P.I. in Portland. With a complicated personal history and only herself to rely on, she solves other people’s messes with a blind eye toward her own. [Source: TV Line]

Bluff City Law
Jimmy Smits has been cast in a lead role opposite Caitlin McGee in the NBC character-driven legal drama pilot “Bluff City Law”. “The Brave” creator Dean Georgaris serves as writer and executive producer alongside David Janollari and Michael Aguilar for Universal Television.

The story follows the lawyers of an elite Memphis law firm that specializes in the most controversial landmark civil rights cases. Smits plays legendary lawyer Elijah Strait and his brilliant daughter, Sydney Keller (McGee), who take on the toughest David-and-Goliath cases while navigating their complicated relationship. Avenue 5
Nikki Amuka-Bird (“Quarry”) and Lenora Crichlow (“Being Human”) have scored key roles opposite Hugh Laurie, Zach Woods, Suzy Nakamura, Rebecca Front and Josh Gad in Armando Iannucci’s HBO space comedy pilot “Avenue 5”.

Amuka-Bird will play Rav Mulcair, head of Judd Mission Control on Earth, who is intense and slightly odd and also racked with guilt over having sent her two best friends into space in an attempt to fix their failing marriage. Crichlow is Billie McEvoy, the second engineer who loves building and fixing things but is terrified of dying in space. [Source: Deadline]

DisneyNature’s Penguins
Ed Helms (“Tag,” “The Hangover”) will serve as the narrator of Disneynature’s upcoming theatrical feature “Penguins” and has recorded an announcement video for the new film, opening April 17th, below.

The coming-of-age story follows an Adelie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he’s targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals.
