Filming has begun and the first photo is out from Andrew Levitas’ “Minamata” starring Johnny Depp as celebrated U.S. photographer W. Eugene Smith. Shooting will take place in Japan, Serbia, and Montenegro.
Based on the book by Aileen Mioko Smith and Smith and adapted by David K. Kessler, the true-story thriller pits Smith against a powerful corporation responsible for poisoning the people in Minamata, Japan in 1971. Bill Nighy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano and Ryo Kaseo co-star. [Source: Deadline]

Will Ferrell is reviving his iconic “Anchorman” character for “The Ron Burgundy Podcast,” two twelve-episode seasons of a podcast which hails from iHeartMedia and Funny or Die.
The first trailer is out and offers a look at Ferrell back in costume and handing out advice to punters who have called in. The first episode premieres February 7th on the iHeartPodcast Network, with new episodes every Thursday.
Brittany Runs a Marathon
Amazon has acquired global rights to the Jillian Bell-led Sundance dramedy feature “Brittany Runs a Marathon” in a massive $14 million deal. Paul Downs Colaizzo helms the film in which Bell plays a hard-partying millennial who tries to change the course of her life by committing to a major run. [Source: Variety]
The Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron-led comedy originally titled “Flarsky” has now scored the new name “Long Shot”. Set to premiere next week at SXSW, the film has released its first stills and has been dated for a May 3rd release.
Rogen plays an unemployed journalist battered by his own misfortune who endeavors to pursue his childhood crush and babysitter (Theron) who is now the U.S. Secretary of State and is attempting a run for President. Dan Sterling wrote the script and Jonathan Levine directs. [Source: Collider]
