Whoopi Goldberg will join Tiffany Haddish, Tika Sumpter, Amber Riley, and Omari Hardwick in Tyler Perrys comedy “The List” which Perry is writing, producing and directing for Paramount Players.
Haddish will portray a wild woman who gets released from prison and reunites with her sister (Sumpter) who is in an online relationship with a man that may be ‘catfishing’ her. A November 2nd release is planned. [Source: Variety]
Connie Britton (“9-1-1,” “Friday Night Lights”) is set to star in Bravo’s new scripted true-crime anthology series “Dirty John” which received a two-season order in January. The show is based on a series of articles about a charismatic con man and the consequences of an ill-fated romance and Britton will star as a single mother who fell in love with Meehan. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Tom Hollander (“The Night Manager,” “In the Loop”) will produce and star in a remake of Victor Hugo’s classic “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” for ITV. Hollander would play Quasimodo, a bell-ringer born with a hunchback and feared as a monster but ultimately finding love. Andrew Davies (“War and Peace”) will pen the script. [Source: Deadline]
Run This Town
Ben Platt (“Dear Evan Hansen”), Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Mena Massoud (“Aladdin”) have signed on to star in the drama feature “Run This Town” alongside Damian Lewis. Ricky Tollman penned and makes his directing debut on the film.
Platt plays a young journalist who catches wind of a scandal involving a flashy, unpredictable politician with no filter (Lewis). Political aides (Massoud and Dobrev) attempt to keep their boss in check, and the story under wraps. [Source: Deadline]
Daughter of the Wolf
RIchard Dreyfuss, Gina Carano and Brendan Fehr have joined David Hackl’s action thriller “Daughter of the Wolf”. Anton Gillis-Adelman and Sydelle Noel co-star in the film which just began shooting.
The story follows an ex-military specialist who returns home following her father’s passing and receives a large inheritance. When her defiant 13-year-old son Charlie is kidnapped and held for ransom, she captures one of the kidnappers and forces him to lead her on a perilous journey deep into the Alaska Mountains to rescue her kid.
