Killroy Was Here
Filmmaker Kevin Smith has revealed the first photo from the set of his new horror anthology feature “Killroy Was Here”. The director started shooting the first installment back in June, working from a script he co-wrote with Andrew McElfresh. No release date has been set. [Source: Twitter]

Avan Jogia (“Victorious,” “Paper Year”) has joined the cast of the “Shaft” reboot at New Line, joining a cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Jessie T. Usher, Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp and Richard Roundtree. Tim Story will direct a script from Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow.

Usher plays a nerdy FBI agent who launches his own investigation after his friend dies under suspicious circumstances. Needing help with the case, he reluctantly enlists the help from his estranged father – the legendary, stuck-in-the-80s-but-still-cool-as-hell titular John Shaft (Jackson). Uncanny Valley
Universal Pictures has optioned the rights to Anna Wiener’s upcoming novel “Uncanny Valley” a novel about life in the tech bubble and how workers grapple with their IPO dreams evaporating and having to dust off resumes. Michael De Luca, Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman are all slated to produce. [Source: Variety]

Cate Blanchett has been named president of the Cannes Film Festival jury for 2018. Blanchett will be the 12th woman to lead the jury of the prestigious festival which will run May 8th-19th. Unlike in years past, this year the festival now begins on a Tuesday and ends on a Saturday. [Source: Variety]
