Quick News Gretel Sleepover Mom Silvercup Snl

Gretel & Hansel
Orion Pictures has released the first photo of Sophia Lillis as Gretel in “Gretel & Hansel,” a dark reimagining of the classic fairytale. Rob Hayes (“Chewing Gum”) and Osgood Perkins (“The Blackcoat’s Daughter”) directs the project.

Set a long time ago in a distant fairytale countryside, this will tell the tale of a young girl who leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil. Sammy Leakey, Alice Krige, Jessica De Gouw, and Charles Babalola also star in the film opening January 31st. [Source: Orion Pictures]

The Sleepover
Joe Manganiello, Malin Akerman and Ken Marino will lead the cast of Trish Sie’s “The Sleepover” which has just begun production for Netflix and LD Entertainment. Sarah Rothschild penned the script while Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon are producing.

The story follows two siblings who discover their seemingly normal mom is a former thief in witness protection. Mom is forced to pull one last job, and the kids team up to rescue her over the course of an action-packed night. [Source: Deadline]

Mr. Mom
VUDU has premiered the first trailer for its TV series remake of 1983 cult classic comedy “Mr. Mom,” the new take starring “Angie Tribeca” actor Hayes MacArthur in the title role in the twelve-episode first season. “Mr. Mom” is set to premiere on VUDU for free from September 12th.

MacArthur plays Greg, a dad who is tired of his nine-to-five job who switches roles up to become a stay at home dad as his wife who just landed her dream job after raising her kids for five years. Neither of them are quite prepared, however.

Jake Abel (“Percy Jackson,” “Supernatual”) will join George Young and Annabelle Wallis in James Wan’s upcoming secret horror project currently going by the name “Silvercup”. The plot is under wraps and is based on a story by Wan and Ingrid Bisu. Wan and Michael Clear will produce. [Source: Deadline]

Saturday Night Live
NBC has announced the guest lineup for the next five episodes of” Saturday Night Live” with the big news being Eddie Murphy will host the December 21st episode. Also lined up for upcoming episodes are Woody Harrelson on September 28th, Phoebe Waller-Bridge on October 5th, David Harbour on October 12th and Kristen Stewart on November 2nd. [Source: NBC]
