The Girl in the Spider’s Web
“Phantom Thread” co-star Vicky Krieps is set to join “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” the film thriller sequel to “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” at Sony Pictures and MGM. Filming is currently underway in Berlin and Stockholm.
Details about Krieps’ character are unknown at this time but she joins a cast that includes Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander, Sylvia Hoeks as Salander’s twin sister, and Claes Bang as the villain. Fede Alvarez helms the film opening November 9th. [Source: Variety]
Daughters of the Resistance
Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Pictures have optioned the film rights to Judy Batalion’s book proposal “Daughters of the Resistance”. The story deals with the previously untold tale of young Jewish women and girls who fought in the Resistance against the Nazis, based on the author’s original discovery of these women’s firsthand accounts in Yiddish. Taylor Schilling is set to lead the Nicholas McCarthy-directed thriller “Descendant” for Orion Pictures. Filming begins in March in Toronto.
Schilling plays a young mother who, concerned about her eight-year-old son’s disturbing behavior, thinks something supernatural may be affecting him. Jeff Buhler penned the script while Tripp Vinson will produce. [Source: Heat Vision
An Ordinary Man
Saban Films has acquired North American rights to Brad Silberling’s war thriller “An Ordinary Man” starring Ben Kingsley and Hera Hilmar. A Q2 theatrical release is planned.
The story follows a war criminal in hiding who forms a relationship with his only connection to the outside world — his maid. Peter Serafinowicz and Robert Blythe also star. [Source: Variety]
Sarah Conradt has been set to pen the English-language remake of Svyatoslav Podgayevsky’s Russian horror tale “The Bride”.
The story centers on a turn-of-the-century bride who returns from the dead to terrify a modern-day bride and her family. “The Conjuring” scribes Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes will produce. [Source: Heat Vision]
