Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit” will open the 15th edition of Fantastic Fest on September 19th at the Alamo Drafthouse. The fest will also hold world premieres for Jim Mickle’s “In the Shadow of the Moon” starring Boyd Holbrook, Vincenzo Natali’s “In the Tall Grass” based on the Stephen King novella, and Brad Anderson’s “Fractured” starring Sam Worthington.
Also showing are Takashi Miike’s “First Love,” Quentin Dupieux’s “Deerskin,” Daniel Scheinert’s “he Death of Dick Long,” and a 4K restoration of the uncut version of “Tammy and the T-Rex” starring a young Denise Richards and Paul Walker. [Source: The Playlist]
Ahead of the release of “IT: Chapter Two” in cinemas on September 6th, the 2017 first film is returning to cinemas with a little bonus – an eight-minute post-credits clip serving as a sneak peek of the sequel. Stampede and Vertigo Films are teaming for “Sunburnt Country,” a film adaptation of Australian author Gabriel Bergmoser’s gritty novel of the same name. Roy Lee (“IT”) and Jon Berg will produce with Greg Silverman.
The story follows backpackers Maggie and Simon as they go off-roading in the Australian wilderness and stumble upon a reclusive backwater town where they realize that the locals hunt and kill outsiders for sport. Maggie tries to fight her way out of their grip. [Source: Deadline]
