Dan Stevens (“The Guest,” “Downton Abbey”) has been tapped to play the role of Russian contestant Alexander Lemtov in David Dobkin’s comedy feature “Eurovision” starring Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams, and Pierce Brosnan.
Ferrell and Adams play two struggling Icelandic musicians who join the long-running international TV music competition. Ferrell will co-write the script with Andrew Steele and produce with Jessica Elbaum and Adam McKay. [Source: Deadline]
New Republic Pictures (“Rocketman”) is developing the female ensemble comedy “Inward Bound” which hails from a script by stand-up comedian Stefanie Kahn. Olivia Cooke, Ben Hardy, Daryl McCormack, Colm Meaney, Dylan Moran and Alec Baldwin will star in the comedic thriller “Pixie” directed by Oscar nominee Barnaby Thompson and written by Preston Thompson. Shooting is now underway for seven weeks in Belfast.
Cooke plays Pixie, a woman who wants to avenge her mother’s death by masterminding a heist, but her plans go awry and she finds herself on the run with two young men (Hardy, McCormack) who are way out of their depth being chased across the Wild Irish countryside by gangsters. Electronic musician Oneohtrix Point Never (aka Daniel Lopatin), who burst onto the scene with the score for The Safdie Brothers’ “Good Time,” are returning to compose the score for their next feature “Uncut Gems” starring Adam Sandler, Lakeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Judd Hirsch, Eric Bogosian, and Pom Klementieff. The crime thriller has Sandler as a charismatic New York City jeweler who makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. The film opens in cinemas on December 13th. A bunch of new first look photos are out from the Edward Norton-directed new period drama “Motherless Brooklyn” based on the novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem. Norton shifted the setting to 1950s New York-set to tell the story of a private investigator as he finds himself caught in a potentially massive conspiracy surrounding New York City and one of the biggest builders in the country. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alec Baldwin, Bruce Willis, and Willem Dafoe co-star in the film which opens in cinemas November 1st. [Source: Vanity Fair]
