Bad Boys For Life
Theresa Randle (“Girl 6,” “Spawn”) will reprise her role of Theresa Burnett, wife of Detective Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence), in “Bad Boys for Life” at Sony Pictures. This will mark her first screen role in nearly a decade.
The third installment centers on the Miami PD and its elite AMMO team’s attempt to take down a drug cartel leader after his mother orders the death of Mike Lowery (Will Smith). “Bad Boys for Life” is expected to hit on January 17th 2020. [Source: Blackfilm]
SEGA has announced that it will release a retro version of its Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console later this year – specifically September 19th. The device will come with forty built-in games including Altered Beast, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Comix Zone, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Ecco the Dolphin, Gunstar Heroes, Shining Force, Sonic The Hedgehog, Space Harrier II, and ToeJam & Earl. Promising Young Woman
Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Adam Brody, Jennifer Coolidge, Laverne Cox, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Sam Richardson, and Molly Shannon have all joined the cast of Carey Mulligan’s thriller “Promising Young Woman” at Focus Features and FilmNation Entertainment.
Mulligan will play a young woman haunted by a tragedy in her past who takes revenge on the predatory men unlucky enough to cross her path. Emerald Fennell makes her directing debut on the project and filming is now underway in Los Angeles. Margot Robbie is one of several producers. [Source: Variety]
Light of My Life
Saban Films has acquired U.S. rights to Casey Affleck’s narrative feature debut film, the dystopian survival drama “Light of My Life” which premiered at Berlinale last month.
The story follows a father (Affleck) and child (Anna Pniowsky) who journey through the outskirts of society a decade after a pandemic has wiped out half the world’s population. As a father struggles to protect his child at all costs, their bond is tested. Elisabeth Moss co-stars. [Source: Saban Films]
Two one-sheets worth a look this weekend. One is the poster for the new CG animated film based on hit franchise “The Addams Family” which opens this October. The other is a WonderCon-themed one for the new “X-Men” film “Dark Phoenix” which opens in cinemas June 7th. That film screened ten minutes of footage at the convention yesterday to good reaction according to reports.
