Quick News Ammonite Disenchantment Satan Genius

The first still has been released from “Ammonite,” the new film from celebrated “God’s Own Country” director Francis Lee. Kate Winslet, Saoirse Ronan, Fiona Shaw, James McCardle, Gemma Jones and Alec Secareanu co-star in the romantic drama.

Set in the world of Victorian-era palaeontology and along the rugged Southern UK coastline, Winslet plays fossil hunter long past her prime who is asked to take care of a wealthy visitor’s wife (Ronan). Netflix has set a September 20th premiere date for the second half of the first season of “Disenchantment,” the animated comedy from “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening. All ten episodes will launch on that day. In the new season the diminutive companion Elfo is gone, Dreamland is deserted and hard-drinking Princess Bean is on a mission. The series’ pilot drew 4.4 million viewers in its first three days.

Satan Is Real
Phil Morrison (“Junebug”) is set to helm “Satan Is Real,” a biopic about ‘hillbilly gospel’ music stars Charlie and Ira Louvin whose relationship was forged by love, hate, jealousy, and alcohol. Real-life best friends Ethan Hawke and Alessandro Nivola are teaming up to star in the film with Jon Raymond and Shelby Gaines writing the screenplay. [Source: Variety]

Eva Anderson has been tapped to write an English-language adaptation of Nattawut Poonpiriya’s hit 2017 Thai movie “Bad Genius” at Picturestart and Picture Perfect Entertainment. Erik Feig and Patrick Wachsberger will produce.
