Emmy-winning director Reed Morano (Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”) has signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios and will develop original series exclusively for Amazon’s Prime Video service. Morano’s new feature film “I Think We’re Alone Now” won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance and she has the Blake Lively-led thriller “The Rhythm Section” set for a February release. Zach Braff (“Scrubs”) is set to star opposite Christopher Walken and Christina Ricci in Clark Johnson’s anti-GMO indie film “Percy”. Hilary Pryor and Garfield L. Miller’s script is based on events from a 1998 lawsuit and filming is now underway.
Walken plays a small-town Saskatchewan farmer who challenges a major conglomerate when the company’s genetically modified (GMO) canola is discovered in the 70-year-old farmer’s crop. Braff will play Jackson Weaver, a small town lawyer who represented him and took the case to the Canadian Supreme Court. [Source: Deadline]
William Moseley (“The Chronicles of Narnia,” “The Royals”) has been cast in Petr Jakl’s historical action drama “Medieval,” joining a cast that includes Michael Caine, Til Schweiger, Roland Moller, and Sophie Lowe. Ben Foster leads the film as 14th-century Czech hero and warlord Jan Zizka of Trocnov.
Zizka was a revered military tactician who defeated armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire, and became bound up with the fate of an heiress along with battling a rival king to establish equality for the Czech people. Moseley will play Jaroslav, brother of Jan. [Source: Deadline]
Actor Ryan Reynolds has posted a brief but amusing little video from the set of “6 Underground,” the new big-budget Michael Bay-directed action thriller from Skydance Media and Netflix and based on a script from “Deadpool” scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Dave Franco, Corey Hawkins, Ben Hardy, Mélanie Laurent, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Adria Arjona and Lior Raz co-star in the film which goes to the streaming service next year.
