The Aftermath
Fox Searchlight has set an April 26th 2019 release for the war drama “The Aftermath”. Set in Germany in 1946, Keira Knightley plays the wife of a British colonel (Jason Clarke) who discovers he has made a decision to move them to a new home in Germany, where they will share it with the previous owners, a widower (Alexander Skarsgard) and his troubled daughter.

As the four begin living together, the atmosphere becomes charged and tense and the feelings of anger and grief give way to passion and betrayal. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse penned the film which is being helmed by James Kent (“Testament of Youth”). Ridley Scott is producing. [Source: Fox Searchlight]

A Madea Family Funeral
Lionsgate has set a March 1st 2019 release for “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral” – pushing the film back from a planned release later this year. In the film, a joyous family reunion turns into a hilarious nightmare as Madea and the crew travel to backwoods Georgia and unexpectedly plan a funeral, which threatens to reveal sordid family secrets. Sheikh Zayed Biopic
STXfilms has begun developing a biopic based on the life of former United Arab Emirates President – the late Sheikh Zayed. Shekhar Kapur (“Elizabeth”) helms the film which Cliff Dorfman (“Warrior”) will pen.

Sheikh Zayed was instrumental in the formation of the UAE in 1971 and is credited with transforming the emirates into a modern progressive state, attempting to create a world of coexistence and peace. [Source: Variety]

Bad Boys 3
Noted cinematographer Benoit Debie (“Spring Breakers,” “Enter the Void”) has signed on as director of photography on the long in the works third “Bad Boys” film which Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing. The hiring confirms this is looking to be a very different take on the series than the two previous Michael Bay adaptations. [Source: Omega Underground]

The Good Spy
Baltasar Kormakur (“Contraband,” “Everest,” “Adrift”) and Hugh Jackman are circling “The Good Spy,” a film adaptation of Kai Bird’s biography of CIA operative Robert Ames. Evan Hayes, Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes are producing.

F. Scott Frazier is penning the script in which Jackman would play Ames, an operative in the Middle East who was killed in the bombing outside the 1983 American Embassy in Beirut. [Source: Deadline]

Jeff Goldblum
Beloved actor Jeff Goldblum has officially signed with Decca Records and will release his first jazz album later this year. Goldblum gave a performance on “The Graham Norton Show” last year alongside Gregory Porter and Decca Records execs were so impressed they met with him and hammered out a record deal.
