Quibi Plans Short Form The Fugitive Reboot

A reboot of “The Fugitive” property is in the works for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s upcoming short-form video platform Quibi.

“Scorpion” creator and “Prison Break” producer Nick Santora, Thunder Road Films, 3 Arts Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television are producing the reimagined take on the property which follows on from the regular TV series in the 1960s and the famed 1993 film starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.

Written by Santora, the new version begins when a bomb rips through a Los Angeles subway train

Faulty evidence on the ground and modern ‘post before checking’ journalism lead to blue collar worker Mike Russo, who was onboard with his family, being falsely and publicly accused of the terrorist act.

Mike must prove his innocence by uncovering the real perpetrator before the legendary cop heading the investigation can apprehend him. With misinformation travelling fast, Mike’s life and family hang in the balance.

Santora, Basil Iwanyk, Tom Lassally and Albert Torres executive produce.
