In the wake of the surprise death of legendary musician Prince, AMC Theatres and Carmike Cinemas have announced that they have teamed with the Warner Bros. Pictures distribution team to bring “Purple Rain” back to cinemas.
The 1984 film stars Prince as a young man with a talent for music who meets an aspiring singer, Apollonia, and finds that talent alone isn’t all that he needs. At the same time he tries to overcome his father’s self destructive behavior, loses Apollonia to another singer, and works out his own connection to others.
Both theater chains begin limited screenings of the film today and will continue them through this coming Thursday April 29th. Check your local listings for showtimes.
