“Gotham” executive producer John Stephens says that Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome will be coming back to the series at some point, telling Zap2It that: “it is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back.”
The character, so far the most obvious candidate to date that the show has put forward to become The Joker, seemingly died last season. However, like many who have passed in the show’s early episodes, they’ve all been brought back by Professor Hugo Strange’s experiments and are more disturbed than ever. Stephens warns that we shouldn’t expect Jerome to come back into the mix for some time yet though:
“You’ll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he’s going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist. Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we’ll bring that back in a much bigger way and you’ll see these different versions of the Joker myth. He plays into the idea of transformation. When he comes back, you want to see that new version. That next step forward.”
“Gotham” returns to the FOX network starting September 19th.
