Prospect Park Adapting “Wither”

Prospect Park and Violet House Prods. have acquired feature film rights to “Wither”, the first book in Lauren DeStefano’s planned ‘Chemical Garden’ young adult novel trilogy says Variety.

The dystopian fantasy is set in a future when successful attempts at eugenics have lead to a perfect generation of humans, free of illness and disorders. However as a side effect a virus has also been created that has lead to all subsequent generations of women and men having lifespans of twenty and twenty five years respectively.

The main narrative follows a kidnapped girl and her attempt to escape from a forced polygamous marriage designed to keep the population from dying out. Jeff Kwatinetz and Rob Carliner will produce.
