Along with updates on its existing shows, Showtime used their panel at the Television Critics Association press tour today to premiere the first trailers for two new series – the Jim Carrey-led “Kidding” and the Benicio del Toro-starrer “Escape at Dannemora”.
“Kidding” debuts September 9th and is a half-hour comedy starring Jim Carrey as Jeff, a man better known by his iconic children’s show host persona Mr. Pickles, who is in the midst of a complete mental breakdown.
The problem begins affecting everyone around him including the show’s executive producer (Frank Langella), his estranged wife (Judy Greer) and the show’s head puppet maker (Catherine Keener).
“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” director Michel Gondry helms the premiere and executive produces alongside showrunner Dave Holstein (“Weeds”).
“Escape at Dannemora” is a limited series from director Ben Stiller. The story is based on the stranger-than-fiction prison break in upstate New York in summer 2015 that spawned a statewide manhunt for convicted murderers Richard Matt (Benicio Del Toro) and David Sweat (Paul Dano).
The pair were aided in their escape by married female prison employee Tilly Mitchell (Patricia Arquette). The series premieres on Showtime on Sunday, November 18th.
