“The Wave” director Roar Uthaugh has used Instagram to confirm that production is officially underway on the new “Tomb Raider” film.
Alicia Vikander (“Ex Machina”) is set to play Lara Croft in the video game adaptation alongside Walton Goggins (“Justified”) as the main villain and Daniel Wu (“Into the Badlands”) as an ally.
The photo uses the logo of the 2013 reboot of the game franchise which received great acclaim and is said to serve as the basis for the new film. Uthaug will direct from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Transformers: The Last Knight”).
“Tomb Raider” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM with a March 16th 2018 release planned.
