One project that appeared to fall through the cracks some time ago was “The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes,” an attempt to revive the ‘Amityville’ franchise by famed micro-budget producer Jason Blum (“Paranormal Activity,” “Insidious”).
Speaking recently with Crave Online, Blum says that the film is “still going” and they’re definitely going to make it, but they “don’t quite know yet when.”
Blum also talked about a potential TV series following the trio of paranormal investigators from the “Insidious” film franchise:
“I’d like to do that. I don’t think you can do that while we’re still making movies. Now Leigh is writing the third ‘Insidious’, so we have to see how far we can take the series of movies… but I believe very strongly that once that kind of comes to a close you can do a series, and I think soon we’ll be in a place where you can have a series at the same time. Although right now people are too nervous to have that.”
Blum is about to start filming a top secret film project, and production wrapped recently on the TV pilot “Eye Candy” which Catherine Hardwicke directed and Victoria Justice stars in. Right now they’re waiting on seeing if ‘Candy’ will be ordered to series:
“They haven’t weighed in yet on whether or not they’re going to pick it up but the pilot is finished and I’m really proud of it. So between that and the one that we’re shooting – we’re going to shoot multiple episodes – we’re going to have something on the air very soon.”
