Nearly a decade ago came Shane Carruth’s ultra low-budget sci-fi indie feature “Primer”. It has taken time but at last his next film, “Upstream Color”, looks to be in the works.
According to CHUD, the film is being billed as a “romance/drama/thriller” and a 40-day shoot on the project kicks off in early November with casting underway in Dallas, Texas.
Plot details are being kept under wraps so no-one is sure what it is about. The title likely refers to biopharmaceutical process to remove chemical impurities, how or even if that figures into the story is anyone’s guess right now.
One thing this isn’t is “A Topiary”, an “abstract arthouse Pokemon” script Carruth has been trying to get off the ground for some time.
