Pre-Sales Good, Reviews Bad For “Transformers”

Fandango has announced that “Transformers: Age of Extinction” is obliterating all the competition on its advance ticketing service.

The film currently holds 96% of all ticket presales for its opening weekend, cementing the chances of it reaching its early tracking numbers which indicated the film may open to more than $100 million domestically for the weekend.

A survey of users who bought tickets indicated 92% had seen at least one of the previous films on the screen, 83% are Michael Bay fans, and around 76% & 75% said the inclusion of Mark Wahlberg and Dinobots respectively made them more keen to see it.

Early reviews have not been good, the film scoring a 30/100 on Metacritic – easily the worst of the series so far behind 61/100 for the first, 35/100 for the second and 42/100 for the third.

On Rotten Tomatoes it’s a similar story. The new film has scored 13% (3.6/10) so far compared with 57% (5.8/10) for the first, 19% (3.9/10) for the second and 36% (4.9/10) for the third.
