“Prada” Director Visits A “Beautiful Ruin”

David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada”) is closing a deal to direct the film adaptation of Jess Walter’s novel “Beautiful Ruins” at Fox 2000.

Set in the spring of 1962 off the Ligurian Sea, three young characters meet during an incident involving the international jet-set in Rome while everyone is in a tizzy over the shooting of the film “Cleopatra” there.

Sam Mendes was originally intending to direct but will now produce with Julie Pastor and Karen Rosenfelt. Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster penned the script and filming kicks off this Summer.
