Power Rangers Casting Shortlist Revealed

A group of young, up-and-coming actors and actresses are shortly set to begin testing for Dean Israelite’s “Power Rangers” cinematic reboot at Lionsgate.

Amongst the actors test are Daniel Zovatto (“It Follows”), Ross Butler (“Chasing Life”) and Brian “Sene” Marc for Zack (The Black Ranger); KJ Apa (“Shortland Street”), Austin Butler (“The Shannara Chronicles”) and Mitchell Hope (“The Descendants”) for Jason (The Red Ranger); and Naomi Scott (“The Martian”) and newcomer Stephanie Scott for Kimberley (The Pink Ranger).

The story re-imagines the origins of the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” a group of high school kids who find themselves infused with alien powers and unite to save the world.

The studio is said to be looking for fresh faces for the team, but will likely seek a major name to play the villain – no offers are out regarding that part at this point.

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are penning the script with the latest draft having been reportedly handed in. Haim Saban, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur are producing.
