Potter Gets 25 Mins In IMAX 3D

IMAX Corporation’s second-quarter 2008 earnings report has revealed that “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will include approximately 25 minutes in IMAX 3-D.

In the transcript (via Coming Soon), IMAX co-CEO Rich Gelfond tells shareholders that the 3D footage will be “split between the opening sequence of the film and the finale.”

The previous film, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, contained 17 minutes of IMAX 3D sequences. Unlike IMAX films or segments of “The Dark Knight” which shot deliberately in IMAX, these scenes will be converted from existing film (like the previous ‘Potter’ and “Superman Returns”).

Also some new photos have emerged at Blog Hogwarts. “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will open in IMAX and conventional theaters on July 17th 2009.
