Polio Vaccine Film “Impossible War” Planned

Black Bear Pictures (“Gold,” “The Imitation Game”) has begun development on “The Impossible War,” a film about Jonas Salk and Albert Sabin’s efforts to develop anti-polio vaccines.

Salk needed seven years to develop the first polio vaccine which was declared safe and effective in 1955 – three years after a U.S. epidemic killed more than 3,000 in the worst polio outbreak in the nation’s history.

Six years later in 1961, Sabin developed the oral polio vaccine. Robert Specland penned the script which Peter Dealbert, Teddy Schwarzman and Ben Stillman will produce.
