Polanski To Helm Assayas-Scripted “True Story”

In the past few years director Roman Polanski chucked out three very well-regarded films – “The Ghost Writer,” “Carnage” and “Venus In Fur”. Since then though he’s been fairly quiet beyond a failed attempt at an Alfred Dreyfus biopic.

Now, Allocine (via The Film Stage) reports that Polanski will direct an adaptation of Delphine de Vigan’s French novel “Based On A True Story”. On top of that, “Clouds Of Sils Maria” helmer Olivier Assayas will be adapting the script.

The story follows a writer going through a rough period after the release of his latest book. He soon gets mixed up with an admirer. No word on when the project will begin production.
