Point Break Goes Three Weeks Early In China

China has approved a new December 3rd release date for the upcoming remake of “Point Break” – a full three weeks before it opens in the United States. The move is thought to be due to the film having the backing of Chinese investor DMG Entertainment.

This will be the final opening of a U.S. film this year in China, following the launches of “The Martian” and “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” in the week before. Only 34 U.S. films are allowed to be released annually in China.

Ericson Core directed from Kurt Wimmer’s script while Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey take on the roles of Bodhi and Johnny Utah respectively in this more extreme sports interpretation of Kathryn Bigelow’s iconic 1991 original.
