Poe’s “House of Usher” Gets Updated

Green Knight Ventures is planning a 3D contemporary adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic novel “The Fall of the House of Usher” says The Hollywood Reporter.

Poe’s 1839 tale tells of the mysterious goings-on in the house of Roderick Usher, who has recently buried a sister whose presence still haunts the house.

This new take, entitled “The Ushers”, will look at a grown brother and sister who have lived in the same Martha’s Vineyard house for a long time but begin to feel trapped there, and who then bring in a real-estate broker to help them resolve their crisis.

Claire Forlani, Dougray Scott and Rufus Sewell star in the film which Stephen Kay is attached to direct. Gian Marco Masoni wrote the screenplay while Stefano Gallini Durante and Pete Maggi will produce

The property has been adapted several times before, most notably Roger Corman’s 1960 adaptation starring the legendary Vincent Price.
