Two major sci-fi films from acclaimed filmmakers are now at opposite ends of production it would seem.
First up, screenwriter Zak Penn has confirmed on Twitter that the Steven Spielberg-directed film adaptation of Ernest Cline’s best-selling 2011 sci-fi novel “Ready Player One” has just wrapped its first week of production.
Tye Sheridan stars in the film as a teenager in a virtual utopia who tries to solve puzzles inspired by the creator of this world with the promise of fortune at the end.
Meanwhile, actor Mark Hamill has confirmed on Twitter that shooting on director Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is currently slated to wrap July 22nd.
The film, the direct follow-up to last year’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” began production back in April and is slated for release December 2017.
