Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company has shifted its production deal to Annapurna Pictures in a new three-year deal which will kick off with Adam McKay’s biopic about former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Christian Bale is playing Cheney, Steve Carell will play former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams will play Lynne Cheney in the film that had been set-up at Paramount, but was put into turnaround by the new regime under recently appointed chairman Jim Gianopulos.
Budgeted in the $50 million range, the project seems ideal for Annapurna which has backed such films as “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Master”. Plan B, which most recently produced “The Lost City Of Z,” had previously set-up shop at New Regency but left in January.
Annapurna will handle marketing and distribution efforts for Plan B’s upcoming film releases and partner on at least three films per year. The deal announcement follows the recent multi-picture output deal Annapurna made with Hulu.
