Pizzolatto Skips “Perry Mason” For “True Detective”

“True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto has officially stepped away from HBO’s planned “Perry Mason” reboot to focus all his attention on the third season of ‘Detective’ reports Deadline.

Mahershala Ali leads the cast of the new season of which there is little information at this time. Pizzolatto penned both the highly acclaimed first season and widely derided second season of “True Detective,” along with recent films such as “Galveston” and “The Magnificent Seven”.

“Friday Night Lights” and “Weeds” duo Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald will take over ‘Mason’ which stars Robert Downey Jr. as the famed attorney iconically portrayed by Raymond Burr. At this point there’s no word on when either project will hit the screens.
