Pinewood’s Ambitious Expansion Plans

Pinewood Shepperton Studios, the home of the Bond franchise and many other features, has unveiled ambitious plans for a $400 million renovation and expansion reports The Guardian.

The studios will double its size, expanding onto 105 acres of land next to its site in Buckinghamshire. The plans is for the world’s first purpose-built film and TV “sustainable community” of more than 2,000 homes.

The development features a number of backdrops, including a British suburb, a Venetian canal, a Roman amphitheatre, a fully-formed replica of a medieval castle, a Los Angeles high school campus, a recreation of Italy’s Lake Como, and street scenes from downtown New York, London, Chinatown in Boston, as well as a Chicago suburb.
