Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig and Jason Schwartzman have all scored guest starring/recurring roles in Netflix’s upcoming eight-part TV series prequel to the 2001 cult comedy “Wet Hot American Summer”.
Hamm will play a secret spy, Wiig is a snobby counselor at a preppy rival camp, Schwartzman is the camp’s head counselor, and Pine’s character is described only as mysterious.
The quartet join an already massive cast that includes Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Meloni, Molly Shannon, John Slattery, Josh Charles, Randall Park, Jayma Mays, Lake Bell, Richard Schiff, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Michaela Watkins, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Judah Friedlander, Kevin Sussman, A.D. Miles, and Michael Showalter.
While the previous film was set on the last day of a fictional summer camp in 1981, this new series will be set on the first day. “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” is currently slated to premiere this Summer.
Michael Showalter will serve as show runner on the series which David Wain will direct. The first teaser trailer for the series has also gone online, you can check that out below:
