Everyone is going to be breaking down this morning’s release of the first trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and to help you out, check out just over two dozen screen caps from the clip.
As you can see, the trailer is deliberately vague – there’s zero new characters, only familiar faces from ‘Force Awakens’. The rest is just a handful of shots of props or locations either familiar or simple (eg. a wooden mural, a desert).
As a teaser it’s effective in that it really doesn’t spoil much of anything related to the film. That lack of anything truly new though is also its biggest frustration and keeps it from being amongst the year’s best trailers and more something that just speaks to the faithful or as a nice salute to the franchise as a whole.
Certainly the clip promises the film itself is going to look luscious and already gives this ‘Wars’ universe a more lived in and painterly feel than the sometimes over polished sheen of ‘Force Awakens’. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens in December.
