The difficulties that filmmaker Terry Gilliam has had getting his “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” project on the screen have become legendary. The “12 Monkeys” and “Time Bandits” helmer’s attempts to make a fantastical re-imagining of Cervantes’ iconic story began back in the late 1990s when a series of on-set disasters saw the production collapse.
For almost two decades there’s been numerous false starts but finally Gilliam will have his chance to bring his passion project to the big screen with location scouting underway in Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands ahead of filming in October. This week Indiewire has published photos from that scouting trip. Click the photo below to check out the full gallery.
This new version of the story follows a modern-day advertising executive (Adam Driver) who travels through time and meets up with Don Quixote (Michael Palin), the old man who loses his mind, decides to be a knight, and embarks on a series of adventures.
