Peyton Reed Confirmed For “Ant-Man”

After much speculation, Peyton Reed (“Bring It On,” “Down With Love,” “Yes Man”) is confirmed to be directing Marvel’s “Ant-Man” film.

The studio is looking for someone who can work with the talent already assembled. Reed has had quite a lot of experience with comedy and with Marvel – he spent years developing “Fantastic Four” at Fox before Tim Story took over and helmed the two previous F4 films.

Reed’s name emerged last night along with “Role Models” helmer David Wain as potential candidates, with Reed now officially set. Adam McKay, who did have meetings over the gig, has done enough work that his name is also being officially listed as having contributed to the script. The studio has released a new synopsis for the film which you can see below:

“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”

Also today, one of the actors involved with the project, Michael Douglas, spoke with Schmoes Know about the departure of Edgar Wright.
