While J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and Colin Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World” were the biggest films at the box-office in 2015, one crucial difference is the critical reaction to them. ‘Force’ was widely very well regarded and ‘Jurassic’… was not (though it wasn’t trashed either).
When word broke that ‘Jurassic’ helmer Trevorrow would serve as director of “Star Wars: Episode IX,” the news was not met with as much open enthusiasm as that which greeted the hiring of Abrams or Rian Johnson on the other “Star Wars” chapters.
One unhappy Brazilian fan has decided to try and change things with a petition on Change.org that asks Disney and Lucasfilm to bring back “Star Wars” creator George Lucas to direct Episode IX. So far he has garnered over 6,700 signatures at the time of this writing.
The petition comes despite Lucas having previously made it clear he’s done with the franchise.
